The weekend before Jason's 29th (gasp!) birthday we received some unfortunate news that Carissa's grandfather had passed away. Though it wasn't unexpected it was still very sad for all of us. Carissa and Leah headed off to Oregon to attend the memorial services and comfort her family.
Jason stayed at home because of work and financial constraints (Note - Don't let your children turn 2. They pay full fare on the airlines when they do). He pestered Carissa hourly with phone calls and texts begging for pictures of his girls.

While in Oregon Carissa and Leah visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium. They had a great time taking a tour of the place led by their friend Garret who was able to arrange a special kiss for Leah.
Of course being back in Oregon also meant a reunion for Leah with Ace, uncle Brock's dog. They missed one another.

Leah rarely gets this type of attention and she soaked it up.
Carissa's grandfather will be sorely missed, but we're grateful for our faith and knowing that families can be eternal. He is gone to a better place and our prayers go with him.

Okay this is obviously NOT the most important part of this blog but I just wanted to tell you I love your hair!! I think it looks awesome and I hope you'll leave it that way... at least for a while! Totally jealous about the action Leah got from that seal also, by the way.
