Carissa’s Family Comes to Town

Carissa’s father Randy and two brothers, Brock and Garner, came to visit us for a few days. Leah was very excited to see her grandpa. She was also excited to see her uncles and have someone knew to play with. She tires of mom and dad every once in awhile. Randy made the long drive from McMinnville, OR to spend a few days with us. And we’re certainly glad they did.

We did a few of Carissa’s favorite things which included eating and shopping. We then spent a day scouting out the local ski resorts so Randy and Brock could decide where they want to ski when they come back out this winter. We checked out Solitude, Brighton, Deer Valley, Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons, Snowbird, and finally Alta. And yes, we did it all in a single afternoon. Here’s Randy and Carissa at Jason’s favorite resort Brighton.

We headed up over the pass between Big Cottonwood Canyon over to Deer Valley and Park City.
The road is typically closed this time of year and doesn’t reopen until the end of spring because of the snow. It’s also not paved on the Deer Valley side. Jason took the opportunity to throw a few snowballs.

Brock on the other hand decided to frolic like a doe in a winter meadow. Sorry ladies he’s taken. Yeah, I know. Who would have thought?

Garner taking one out of Brock’s book with this pose.

Leah caught cold handed with a snow ball. She was fascinated by the snow and enjoyed playing in the snow very much. She’s at the age now where she wants to do everything herself. She’s 20 months going on 16. We went to Snowbird and did a short hike that Leah insisted on doing herself without any assistance.

This is what happened as a result:

She was better in no time.

After a long weekend we wound down as a family.

While Brock and Jason rocked out playing "Carry On My Wayward Son" on Guitar Hero II. Good times. Star Power.
