Leah "Smalley" Chong

Leah is our pride and joy. Each night we lay in bed it seems and recount all of the hilarious things she did during the day For example Jason related to Carissa how Leah picked up 3/8" wood dowel and whacked him over the head with it because he was on his laptop and not paying her any attention. Or how Carissa told Jason about Leah pitching a fit when she changed the radio station when Pink's "Who Knew" came on and didn't stop until she changed it back. To see if it really was the song, Carissa changed the tuner again half way through the song. And to her amazement, Leah began to whimper again until she changed it back. Leah is a Pink fan. Who knew?

Anyway, she is growing rapidly and we thought we'd take a moment to update you on her development.

This is of course her cheesy grin. You'll see a pattern here:

....but not in this first photo of our daughter. Here she is with her Mr. Potato Head glasses on. Contrary to what the photo shows she really does love the glasses on and will actually bring them to us to put on her. We decided a few months ago that our daughter deserved toys other than empty shampoo bottles, CD jewel cases, and empty paper towel rolls. So we pulled out a crisp Andrew Jackson and splurged at Wal-Mart. On Leah's first day attending nursery at church they were playing with Mr. Potato Heads so we bought her one for home.

She's crying because she wants to hold the camera.

Here's a cheesy grin. Actually it's a peanut butter and jelly grin. If only vegetables tasted like her favorite PB & J, then she might finally grow out of her 6-9 month onesies. But I guess then she wouldn't be our little smalley either.

We will "chongersize" you yet!



Oh sure it's cute and funny now but our little girl has a shoe fetish. Her favorite thing to do is hand us her shoes for her to put on her feet. We have never ever met another child of her age love shoes as much as she does. We avoid the shoe department in stores because she wants to try every pair on. She sticks her feet straight up in the air trying to get you to oblige. She loves shoes and gets upset when you remove them.

When she tires of her own shoes she invades mommy and daddy's closet and has a field day. Carissa caught her walking in some heels.

You'd be surprised at how well she can walk in these. Though she does struggle with daddy's size 13s.

We're hoping she grows out of this fascination with shoes before her teenage years.


Another one of our daughter's favorite things are cell phones. She can do it all too. She can connect to the internet. She can call people on our contacts list at ease. She even knows how to speed dial. Locking our phones no longer works because she knows how to unlock them. Neither of our cell phones function as they once did because of our little girl, but seeing this face when she gets a hold of one is worth it.

This is what Leah does when she talks to her grandparents on the phone. They ask for a kiss and she kisses the phone. Too cute.

We're hoping this fascination also ends before puberty.


Leah, being the only child, has to entertain herself. Our walk-in closet seems to be her playground of choice. She carried her booster chair from her bedroom all the way to our closet. She grunted and cried in frustration most of the way but she made it. Here she is cheesin' and proud.
