CTR Means Choosing the Right. Not the Left.

So our little honeybee Leah received her first CTR ring. You know the one you all got as little kids in primary? Yup that one. It has the sweet adjustable band and kelly green enameled shield. If you didn't lose it within an hour it turned your finger green in two.

Anyway, Leah treasures this little thing like the rock that Kobe bought wife Vanessa when sorry just wasn't enough. She wears it everywhere and only takes it off to wash her hands and bathe. She is very particular as to what finger it has to go on. It can only be worn on the ring finger of her right hand. The band is as tight as it will go and still slides around so she keeps her fingers close together at all times. She is very proud of this ring and shows it off to anyone explaining that it says "CTR which means choosing the right." Strangers, family and friends alike are amused. We are a mixture of proud and embarrassed.

The other day we were out running errands and I couldn't find this address. Carissa said that we needed to go left which made Leah very upset. We didn't understand what was so wrong until she repeated over and over that she wanted to go right. Ah, the CTR ring. We tried explaining to her that the ring is supposed to help us make right choices and not necessarily the right as a direction. Try as she might, her little 3 year old brain couldn't quite wrap around that idea. So now she's our little backseat driver navigating us away from the left and always steering us to the right.
