O, Canada!

Just thought we'd upload a few pictures of our honeymoon. We're not the best picture takers but we're committed to taking more. Anyway, we spent the first night of our honeymoon in Portland at the Heathman Hotel in the Warhol Suite. It was amazing. It had everything: A living room, two bathrooms, and the funkiest colors you've ever seen. Adorning the walls were reprints of Warhol's art. We woke up and ordered an amazing breakfast in bed and then made the drive to Canada.
Here is the border crossing. It took us about two hours to get through the border. Getting into Canada was less time consuming than coming back to the States. But once across we headed straight to our beautiful hotel the Fairmont Vancouver. Thanks to Chris and Chelsea Coburn for giving us such a wonderful gift. Our 4 night stay was completely taken care of through their generosity. The hotel was beautiful and was a very comfortable home for us for the week. It couldn't have been in a better location either. We spent most of the week walking all over downtown.

Unfortunately we spent quite a bit of time in our hotel room. Unfortunate because it was not due to intense romantic feelings for one another, but rather an intense stomach virus. Our families joked that at least we saw the best and worst of each other right from the start.

When we did feel better we ventured into Chinatown to eat at the famed Foo's Ho Ho. It was recommended in nearly every city guide we saw. It lived up to the hype. Jason liked it so much he "tasted" it again and again all night. We had our server snap this photo of us:


We spent a good deal of our week shopping but we did spend an entire day in Stanley Park. It's a beautiful area with miles of walkways, beaches, and scenic vistas. Our favorite part of the Park was the Vancouver Aquarium.

We enjoyed the day so much that we decided pictures weren't enough. Outside of the aquarium was a group of artists doing portraits and caricatures and this sweet lady drew a portrait of us.

We then walked around the park and took advantage of a few photo ops.

Jason was told to go climb a tree.

We took advantage of the time away from our daughter to do some things that we typically don't get to do with a small child. Like go to the movies. One night while waiting for our movie to start we walked around downtown and happened upon this sweet store that made custom heat exchange transfer shirts. We each made custom hoodies and then showed them off with Jen who helped us make them. Her shirt cracked us up. It said "What the pho?"

We loved our honeymoon. We're grateful to our families who made it all possible. A special thanks to Carissa's mother Kathy who watched our daughter all week. It was nice to have the time to ourselves but we missed her and were anxious to get back home to her.
