Viva Las Vegas

This past weekend we had the great fortune of traveling to Las Vegas to meet Jason's grandparents from Hawaii. They were on the final leg of a two week long tour of the mainland visiting friends and family. They flew into Phoenix where they were to attend a baby blessing and rented a car and drove to Vegas. Initially, they talked of driving all the way to Salt Lake but we were happy to split the difference and meet them there.

Our brother-in-law Chris, came down from Boise to accompany us. It's always nice to have him around. Carissa appreciates the kinship she feels with him since he also married into the Chong Ohana. Jason appreciates the backup when he feels double teamed by Carissa and his youngest sister Rainy. But he is known to stir the pot. Nevertheless, it was nice to see him.

We stayed at the Plaza hotel right at the heart of Fremont Street. We arrived a bit before Jason's grandparents so we strolled down the Fremont Street Experience. We met up with them there at the intersection of Fremont and Main shortly thereafter. This was the first time Leah got to meet her great grandparents and Carissa's first visit with them also. Leah warmed to great grandma Lani right away and took her hand and led her to the Main Street Buffet.

Notice Chris in the background in nearly every picture with his cell phone attached to his head. His wife Chelsea is visiting her parents with the kids in Virginia. Yes folks, a zip code, several states, and 3 time zones away and he is still whooped.

We enjoyed a great seafood buffet and Leah got a chance to exercise her restless legs after being strapped in her car seat for 6 hours. Our server who happened to be from Kailua, HI couldn't get enough of her. And neither could Leah. She ran all around the restaurant looking for her and when she found her she demanded to be picked up. We are currently investigating the most humane leash for our daughter.

This was Rainy and Chris' first visit to Sin City so grandpa and grandma got us a limo to cruise the strip in. It was pretty sweet. Even sweeter is that Leah finally warmed up to her great grandpa and Carissa was able to snap these shots.

It was a great weekend and we were sad to say goodbye. We don't get to see them that often being so far away in Hawaii so we were very grateful for this opportunity.
